Post Posted: Tue Jun 02, 2009 6:15 pm

Come join the fun at the First Tournament to be held at the newly re-designed Circle C Disc Golf Course in Southwest Austin. This course has been overrun with players since its grand re-opening a couple of weeks ago, and everyone is raving about the new design, concrete tee pads, brand new DISCatcher Pro baskets, exceptional landscaping, solid stone benches, etc. (the list goes on and on)...

This PDGA sanctioned C-Tier event will feature two rounds of 18 holes on Saturday (June 13th) and one rount of 18 holes on Sunday (June 14th), and it will be limited to the first 72 players registered.

The first round will tee-off at 9:00 AM on Saturday, with a mandatory players' meeting at 8:30 AM.

There are lots of ways to register:
- To register on-line, go to www.discnation.com, select Tournaments & Events, choose this event, and then follow the directions.
- To register by mail, send in your entry form & money directly to Lou Moreno (must pay to be registered – no spots held by just asking)
- To register in person, give your form & money directly to Brad Granier at the Tuesday Bart Mini, to Gordon Maxim-Kelley at the Thursday Zilker League, or to Lou at the Circle C mini on Saturday June 6th.
- You may also register in person at the Circle C disc golf course the morning of the event from 7:00 - 8:00 AM, provided there are openings.

The entry form is in the next post.

Just remember there are only 72 spaces available, so register soon.

There is not much time for the club to round up sponsorship, so please help us spread the word and help us out wherever/however you can. Our sponsorship request letter is below.

Dear Sponsor,

Waterloo Disc Golf Club is proud to announce that it is hosting the Battle of Slaughter Creek. The event will be held at the disc golf course at Circle C Ranch Metropolitan Park on Saturday, June 13th and Sunday, June 14th. The course has been newly redesigned and upgraded with many amenities to make this the premier disc golf course in Austin, TX.

This is the first tournament in this park since the 90’s and we are asking for your help in making this tournament a great experience for the participants. Waterloo Disc Golf Club is accepting both monetary and merchandise sponsorships for the event and would be proud to prominently display your name and logo as a supporter of the Battle of Slaughter Creek. All sponsors of $50 or more in cash or merchandise will receive a tee sign on the course and their name or logo in the program.

Please contact me with any questions you have regarding this and other Waterloo Disc Golf Club events at (512) 389-1853. Logos should be sent to texas_me @ hotmail.com by Wednesday, June 10th. We look forward to the continued development of our partnership and thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Lou Moreno
Board of Directors, Waterloo Disc Golf Club
Tournament Director, Battle of Slaughter Creek

The Battle of Slaughter Creek is coming up this weekend, June 13-14, a PDGA C-tier event at Circle C disc golf course in Austin (officially Slaughter Creek Metro Park), hosted by Waterloo Disc Golf Club. There is still plenty of room left, but the event is limited to 72 players so sign up soon.

You can register on-line through Disc Nation through Thursday night (not sure of exact time it will shut down). Direct link is: www.discnation.com/Bat...17704.html

You can register in person at Zilker with Gordon tomorrow evening (Thursday) at WaterLeague.

You can register in person on Friday at the park during doubles (see below for doubles info).

You can even register in person Saturday morning between 7:00 - 8:00 AM, provided there are still spots available.

----------------------------------------------

Friday Doubles, June 12th
Bring your partner
Flex Start from 2-5pm

The Pro and Advanced divisions will play from the long tees.
The Intermediate division will play from the short tees.

We'll also be taking late registrations and check in on Friday.

-----------------------------------------------

There won't be food at the course during the weekend but the manager of Natural Planet Grill on the corner of Escarpment and Slaughter has offered a 10% discount to all tournament players. www.naturalplanetgrill.com/

There's also plenty of other places to choose from at that same intersection, at Brodie and Slaughter, and just up Mopac.

I spoke with Lou and he has gotten some more signups out at the course this afternoon (with likely more coming as folks get off work).

But there is still plenty of room, so head on out before dark to signup tonight, or you can come to the park tomorrow morning between 7 - 8 am and signup then.
