The Waterloo Club’s workday at Roy G. on March 2nd has been approved, we are now part of Austin Parks Foundation’s huge It’s My Park Day event. You can register for our project at:
austinparks.org/multi-...ectproject
If you can, please bring any or all of the following: loppers, chainsaws, wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, weed eaters, and a water bottle
Volunteers who register will get a shirt plus other goodies from some of the event sponsors.
Saturday, March 2nd
10 am – 2 pm
But you don’t have to register to come out to our workday or any of the others (Searight, Wells Branch, Manor, or the creek cleanup at Bart). All the projects need lots of folks, and the more people we have the more work we can do to make our disc golf courses better.
We will also be working there at Roy G. on Sunday March 3rd, 9 am – 2 pm, so come on out one day or both.
Beer and other drinks, plus snacks will be available on both days.
Thanks,
Waterloo Disc Golf Club

The Austin Parks Foundation and Windsor Park Neighborhood Assoc. is having a workday at Bartholomew Park this Saturday, April 6th, from 9:00 am – 12: 30 pm. They are bringing out a bunch of mulch (40 cubic yards) and hope to mulch the 35+ trees south of the ball fields and north of the creek.
We could really use some disc golfers to go out and help with the project. We all know how important trees are and it's a lot of mulch to move; and right now after the rains is a great time to mulch the trees and help them through the long, hot summer.
APF will provide wheelbarrows, shovels, forks, rakes. Please bring gloves, hats, sunscreen, water bottles and snacks (and it can’t hurt to bring your own shovels or rakes either).
They would love you to pre-register on the APF site: austinparks.org/calend...email_list (just click on the “more info” link under the listing for this project).
But even if you don’t pre-register, and even if it is a last minute decision, just go on down there to help. There is no such thing as too many volunteers when it comes to spreading out that much mulch, and even an hour or two of your time would be a great thing to do.
The Windsor Park Neighborhood Assoc. has been a huge supporter of keeping disc golf at Bartholomew (we wish all our course’s neighbors liked us as much as they do), so let’s show our appreciation by helping them out and helping the park out at the same time.
Thanks!

The Austin Parks Foundation has cancelled the mulching workday at Bartholomew that HAD been scheduled for tomorrow. They have set a tentative re-scheduled date of April 27th, but we’ll let you know when that is confirmed.
The rain we recently received was WONDERFUL, but apparently there was too much of it at the park for the workday to happen.
Thanks,
Waterloo Disc Golf Club

Just a heads-up for everyone that…
ZILKER HOLES #14 - #18 WILL BE TEMPORARILY CLOSED ON THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON OF FRIDAY, APRIL 26TH
This is to accommodate a mulching project on Friday coordinated by the Austin Heritage Tree Foundation and the Texas School for the Deaf. There will be a lot of deaf kids down there helping to spread the mulch, so this temporary closing will give them a good safe area around where they are working.
The holes will re-open mid-to-late Friday afternoon after the project is complete. Until then, after you finish hole #13 just head back across the park road to #1 or #2.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Just a reminder about the mulching at Bartholomew this Saturday, April 27th, 9:00 am – 12: 30 pm. They would love for participants to pre-register (it helps them with their logistics, like getting enough tools etc). Just click the “calendar” link below, choose the Bart event , and give them your name, email address, and how many people are coming with you. The email address then allows them to notify you of any changes to the event.
Even if you don’t pre-register, please go on out Saturday morning and pitch in (and let them know you are a disc golfer who loves Bartholomew Park
). Even an hour or two can make a big difference.
The mulching of some trees at Bartholomew has been re-scheduled for April 27th, starting at 9 am. This is an Austin Park’s Foundation event in conjunction with the Windsor Park Neighborhood Assoc. You can get more info and pre-register online for it at: www.austinparks.org/calendar.html They will be spreading mulch for 20 trees, near the Splash Pad but closer to the creek. Meet at the Pavilion parking lot. Contact Bill Stout at 512.477.1566 x5 or bill @ austinparks.org
These trees are not on the disc golf course, but The Windsor Park Neighborhood Assoc. has been a huge supporter of keeping disc golf at Bartholomew (we wish all our course’s neighbors liked us as much as they do), so let’s show our appreciation by helping them out and helping the park out at the same time. Hopefully when we start doing our projects out there, they will be able to get some volunteers to help us.
Thanks!

The Waterloo Club’s weekly mini at Bartholomew Park on Saturday, April 27th is being delayed by 1 hour. It will begin at 11 am (instead of 10 am).
If you are going to play the mini, we hope you will come down to the park early, at 9 am, to help with the neighborhood’s mulching project. You can then head over for the mini at 11 am.
The mulching will be from 9 am – 12:30 pm and we’d love for you to help the whole time, but if you can’t be there the whole morning, please come help for as long as you can.
Also, please help us pass the word along to folks who regularly play that mini, especially those that don’t have email or aren’t on Facebook (or at least don’t check them often).
Thanks!

We had a great workday at Bartholomew last Saturday! There were disc golfers and several people from the Windsor Park Neighborhood Association plus Bill Stout from Austin Parks Foundation (APF) plus a last-minute influx of energetic youth from the UT Lions Club
From the disc golf community: Marc Lopez, Brian Litke, Alex Downs and 3 of his kids (Gabriel, Ethan, and Alexis), John Allen Browder, and Gordon Maxim-Kelley. There are pictures on the Waterloo Club’s Facebook Page.
There is another workday at Bartholomew coming up this Saturday, May 4 (10am-1pm), to cut bamboo along holes 1 and 2. Join REI and APF to cut down bamboo that is attempting to regrow after a winter cutting. Volunteers will be working in the Far East section of Bartholomew Park, parallel to Waterbrook Drive. Register online at austinparks.org/calendar.html
